Meet Sydney
Sydney was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer, when she was 11 years old. She had a tumor in her left femur, just above her knee, as well as a few spots on her lungs. She had 30 weeks of chemotherapy and six different surgeries. Surgeons replaced her femur with an allograft, a bone from an organ and tissue donor. She also underwent a thoracotomy to remove her lung tumors. Sydney also had many infections that caused her to spend extensive time in the hospital, in addition to when she was admitted for chemo.
Today, Sydney is back at home, going to school and just using a cane to get around. She loves hanging out in her room since she received a room makeover from the Make-A-Wish Foundation. She enjoys hanging out with her friends and being a typical 12-year-old girl!
